The Australian Cruise Association is sending a record 18 delegates to next week’s Seatrade Cruise Global which is returning to the newly renovated Miami Beach Convention Center.
Australia has been attending the annual event since 1994 when a combined Cruise Australia and New Zealand stand was manned at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention in Miami.
The Australian team is made up of representatives of state tourism organisations, ports, ground handlers and shipping agents.
The ACA chairman Grant Gilfillan, who is ceo of the Port Authority of New South Wales, will take part in a conference panel session on the Asia Pacific region. Gilfillan will speak alongside Debbie Summers, chairman of the New Zealand Cruise Association and Joel Katz, CLIA Australasia and Asia md.
‘Attending this event each year gives our members the opportunity to meet with key decision makers in one place at one time,’ ACA ceo Jill Abel said.
Abel, who is attending for the 15th year, said a representative of the new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal at Luggage Point is part of the Australian team for the first time, highlighting the important role cruising plays in Queensland.
The ACA will again be joined by regional partners including the New Zealand Cruise Association and representatives from Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia and the Solomon Islands.
Down Under BBQ
Abel said the ACA and NZCA will again hold its popular ‘Down Under BBQ’ for conference delegates.
Immediately after SCG, Abel and her team will hold an ‘Aussie Day’ at Royal Caribbean’s office in Miami, showcasing shore excursions and pre- and post- cruise itineraries.
