Nigel Farage to headline Republican-aligned Sydney conference

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage will headline Australia’s first conservative political action conference one month before the United Kingdom is due to leave the European Union.

The conference has been billed as a local version of the wildly popular American CPAC – an annual  event attended by more than 10,000 people that celebrates conservatism and often boosts the political careers of up-and-coming Republicans.

The Australian event is being organised by the Queensland president of the Liberal Democrats, Andrew Cooper, who said “conservatives and libertarians are looking for a place to gather, talk and listen”.

Attending the three day event in August alongside Mr Farage will be powerful Republican insider Matt Schlapp, who is president of the American Conservative Union and was a top adviser to President George W. Bush.
