Australian basketball star Liz Cambage is the face of an underwear maker’s advertising campaign promoting women from diverse backgrounds.
Cambage, who was bullied while growing up in Australia “for being tall, for being different”, poses with three models in Bonds’ new Get Real campaign.
“In Australian culture, it’s not that diverse in the media, so it really means a lot that Bonds has made this campaign so diverse,” Ms Cambage said.
“It’s important to keep things real these days.”
The Australian Opals and Las Vegas Aces centre is known for speaking her mind on issues that other high-profile athletes shy away from, pushing for gender equality and calling for the protection of indigenous traditions.
The campaign comes just days after Cambage was named a starter for this month’s WNBA All-Star game.
Cambage has led the Aces to the top of the WNBA standings and will spearhead the Opals at the Tokyo Olympics next year.
Other women appearing in the campaign include models Emma Breschi, Tehya Elam and India Graham.
