✉ The recommencement of direct flights to Sharm el Sheikh (“Sharm’s back — but just try getting there”, last week) is great news for the UK and, perhaps more important, the residents of Sharm. Some of us, however, did not stop going. I have been at least once a year since 2004, with the exception of 2016, and have just returned from my last visit. For the past three years, I have travelled from Heathrow to Cairo or Gatwick to Istanbul, and then on to Sharm, with flights costing about £400. The longer trips have been well worthwhile.
