Grande pelted with lemon – Entertainment News

| Story:

Ariana Grande temporarily halted her Coachella performance on Sunday night after an audience member threw a lemon at her.

The 25-year-old singer was performing her headline set at the second weekend of the music festival in Indio, California, and strutted down a runway on the stage during a medley of tunes when the piece of fruit came hurtling at her from the crowd.

Luckily, the offending missile missed Ariana’s face but hit her squarely in the chest – causing the star to glance at it before continuing with the performance. She later paused the set, apparently an unscheduled halt – and told the audience: “That’s ’cause one of y’all threw a lemon at me. S**t.”

It has since been speculated that rumours of a pay row surrounding previous Coachella headliner Beyonce may have been responsible for the lemon-throwing incident. It was claimed that Beyonce, who released her groundbreaking visual album Lemonade back in 2016, earned $4 million for her performance at the 2018 festival, while Ariana earned $8 million.

However, an insider later clarified to The Blast that Beyonce actually took home $4 million per weekend – meaning they both earned $8 million for two weekends of performances.

“We’re told the contracts for Grande and Beyonce were structured exactly the same way – $4 million for the first weekend and another $4 million for the second,” the source said.

Others put the lemon throwing down to a drunk and/or unruly fan in the crowd, with the nature of the piece of fruit hurled just a coincidence.

Whatever the reasons for the pelt, thousands of fans took to social media to slam the culprit, with one writing: “Someone threw a lemon at our baby!!! Who the f**k throws lemons at a concert??Wtf s**t… this ain’t no one direction concert right @ArianaGrande?”

Another wrote: “Y’all I wake up to find out someone threw a LEMON at Ariana Grande last night a Coachella… y’all really out here being CHILDISH.”

Britney Spears took an Easter break from her stay in a mental health rehabilitation facility over the weekend to spend some quality time with her boyfriend Sam Asghari.

The Toxic hitmaker indicated she was taking a little “me time” earlier this month amid reports suggesting she had checked herself into a treatment centre in the wake of her father Jamie’s own health battle.

However, she was photographed back in Los Angeles on Sunday, when she and model and actor Sam were spotted leaving The Montage Resort and Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Britney, who wore an off-the-shoulder red sundress, appeared a little disheveled as she made her way to a waiting car.

Reports suggest the singer was granted a weekend pass by wellness facility officials to visit with her loved ones, days after she was also seen at a Los Angeles hair salon.

The mother-of-two has been laying low since postponing her new Las Vegas residency in January to spend more time with her ailing dad, who suffered a ruptured colon in November and had to undergo multiple surgeries.

She had been expected to launch Domination at the Park Theater at Park MGM in February, but decided to take an indefinite break to put her “family first” at the beginning of the year.

On April 3, Britney appeared to assure fans she was OK as rumours surfaced alleging she was struggling with life.

“Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit,” the quote read.

She added the caption: “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time’.”

It’s not known how long Britney plans to spend at the treatment facility, but Sam has been fully supportive of her decision to seek professional help.

Following the news of her rehab stay, he reposted Britney’s Instagram quote and wrote, “It isn’t weakness, It’s a sign of absolute strength, people should only be inspired by this, at least I am #stronger.”

The couple has been dating since late 2016.

Justin Bieber joined Ariana Grande during her set at the Coachella festival on Sunday for his first performance in a year.

After performing hits including God Is a Woman, 7 Rings, and Side to Side, Ariana introduced Justin towards the end of her headline gig by stating, “I wasn’t going to bring out any guests tonight. But my friend Justin Bieber came all the way out.”

The pair, who both appear on Lil Dicky’s new single Earth, also joined forces to sing his 2015 hit Sorry towards the end of her set at Coachella’s second weekend.

Justin, who hasn’t performed his own material live since 2017, told fans he had got his “swag back” despite not planning to perform at the event.

“I haven’t been on stage in like two years,” the 25-year-old commented. “I came out here, I had no idea that I was gonna be on this stage tonight, absolutely no idea. I wore this fly outfit not knowing I was going to be on stage.”

The popstar, who earlier this month announced he was “bouncing back” after a “challenging” time in his life due to mental health issues, also hinted he is ready to fully commit himself to music again by telling fans a new album is “coming soon.”

In July 2017, he abruptly canceled the last 14 dates of his Purpose world tour, citing personal problems.

The Love Yourself hitmaker was first spotted at the event at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on Saturday, watching teenage pop sensation Billie Eilish with his wife, Hailey Bieber.

Following her surprise duet with Justin, Ariana, 25, closed her set with her emotional hit No Tears Left to Cry, the first single she released following the deadly terrorist attack on her concert in Manchester, England in May 2017. The following month, Justin joined her in Manchester for a charity concert raising funds for survivors and the families of the 22 people who died in the bombing.

Pink will no longer post photos of her children on social media as she is tired of cruel online trolls.

Last month, the Trouble singer uploaded a picture of herself, her two-year-old son Jameson, and her seven-year-old daughter Willow to Instagram showing them looking at a pelican.

Jameson was naked from the waist down and had his genitalia scribbled out, though Pink, 39, was still targeted by critics, and she has now decided that she won’t share any more snaps of her kids.

“There’s two sides to this, I see. And one is, I didn’t even realize – I didn’t look at the picture that way. I looked at it, as there was a pelican that flew in. It spent two hours with us, which was incredible,” she said during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Monday. “I have a two-year-old, two-year-olds don’t like to wear wet swim diapers and apparently at some point, he took it off… and I don’t think like that. We live on the farm, they are naked sometimes. I’m naked sometimes!”

Pink, real name Alecia Beth Moore, went on to explain that people labeled her as a bad parent and someone even threatened to call child services on her. And the incident caused her to reassess what she uses her social media pages for.

“I cried, I cried so hard after that because I like to share my family. It’s the proudest moments in my whole life,” the 39-year-old stated, appearing emotional. “I’m prouder of my kids more than anything I’ve ever done and I just won’t share them anymore.

“I won’t do it, I’m not posting pictures of them anymore. And I understand people saying, ‘You need to be more careful because you’re in the public eye and you should of thought of that,’ and they’re right but there’s a nice way to say that, there’s a kind way to be online.”

In addition, Pink commented that a follower recently informed her that the word “gypsy” has derogatory connotations, and she is now “editing” her vocabulary accordingly.

Fran Drescher’s plans to make a reboot of her cult TV show The Nanny with Cardi B have hit a dead end for now.

Last October, the actress shared in an interview with U.S. news show Extra that she would like to make a new version of the ’90s sitcom with the Bodak Yellow hitmaker.

However, Fran has now updated fans of the original programme on the status of the project, and confessed that she is yet to make any headway.

“Truth be told, I’m not developing that as a television series right now,” she shared in a recent interview for SiriusXM’s The Michael Yo Show. “I’ve talked to her representation… In my head, I always thought that for a television series it might be more fun rather than where are we 20 years later, to actually do the show with a whole new cast and get like a Cardi B to play the Nanny and get like an Obama-type to play Mr. Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy). Maybe I could be Cardi B’s mother Sylvia, and just mix it up!”

While Cardi may not be interested in appearing on TV just yet, Fran had plenty of praise for the rapper.

The 61-year-old described her as “beautiful” and claimed to admire the mother-of-one’s “funny” voice.

“She’s from New York. She’s got the style of a star and you can’t buy that,” the New York native shared. “There are just some people like J.Lo (Jennifer Lopez) and Cher and Diana Ross. It’s just a given. She and I on social media, on Instagram and stuff, she’s often putting us together. My picture, her picture. She’s very influenced by the style of myself and the nanny from back in the day and it’s very flattering to me.”

In addition, Fran divulged that she is working on another project with her longtime collaborator and ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson.

The Nanny originally aired on CBS from 1993 until 1999.

Robin Thicke’s fiancee has brushed off rumours suggesting the singer got a little too close to Khloe Kardashian at her sister Kourtney’s 40th birthday party.

The Blurred Lines hitmaker and model April Love Geary were among the celebrity guests at Thursday’s private bash, held at the Los Angeles home of family matriarch Kris Jenner, where Robin teamed up with fellow singer Sia to sing Happy Birthday to Kourtney Kardashian.

In various social media posts from the event, Robin was caught on camera with one arm wrapped around Khloe’s waist, while the reality TV star leaned in closely for a tight hug as the musician appeared to be saying something in her ear.

The image prompted some gossips to speculate about the nature of their relationship, even though Kardashian fans were less than convinced.

One devotee behind the khloekvideo fan account wrote, “Watch there be rumours of Khloe and @robinthicke dating all because of this snapchat of them hugging and talking.”

The post caught April’s eye and she decided to share her feelings about the unfounded claims in the comments section, jokingly making it clear she approved of the pairing.

“I STAN!!!!” she enthusiastically replied, using the slang term for an obsessed fan.

She and Robin have been dating since 2015, following the 42 year old’s split from his ex-wife, actress Paula Patton, the mother of his nine-year-old son Julian.

April and Robin have since become parents to one-year-old daughter Mia, and her baby sister Lola, who was born in February. They became engaged over Christmas.

Meanwhile, Khloe has been single since calling it quits with her baby daddy, basketball player Tristan Thompson, for a second time earlier this year amid allegations of his infidelity.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be portrayed in a Canada-themed episode of “The Simpsons” this weekend.

Toronto reporter Lucas Meyer will voice the part in the episode titled D’oh Canada this Sunday.

Meyer announced his role on Twitter.

“I’m a little bit overwhelmed right now … it’s been a little bit of a whirlwind,” he told CTV News. “It’s just so much fun, you know?”

The episode follows the Simpsons on a trip to Niagara Falls, and Lisa is mistakenly given political asylum in Canada, according to the episode’s synopsis.

An offer for the cameo came last fall after a casting director praised Meyer’s Trudeau impression.

Meyer recently covered Trudeau for news stories on the SNC-Lavalin affair.

He’s a gifted impressionist who can also mimic Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Christopher Walken and others.

“It’s still kind of surreal – especially as someone who grew up on the show,” said Meyer.

Jussie Smollett’s brother has defended him against “public persecution” in a lengthy online essay.

The Empire actor claimed to have been attacked in Chicago in late January, with police officers initially investigating the incident as a hate crime, though he was indicted the following month for disorderly conduct for allegedly paying two brothers to fake the assault and for filing a false police report.

Since then, Jussie’s defence team have reached a deal with prosecutors, with all charges against him dropped, and on Saturday the star’s brother, Jojo Smollett, shared an op-ed about the situation on

In the piece titled, “What if Jussie is telling the truth?” Jojo contemplated the “public persecution” aimed at his sibling, and urged people to examine Jussie’s side of the story.

“It has not yet been 90 days since my younger brother, Jussie Smollett, was assaulted on a cold winter night in Chicago. Within less than three months, his life has been turned upside down as my family and I have witnessed him endure unrelenting attacks to his character and reputation,” he wrote. “Like so many others, this entire process quickly devolved from a focus on him as a victim of assault, to him being falsely accused and held responsible for a crime that was perpetrated against him. To define this experience as unjust would be an understatement.”

During their initial investigation, Chicago police investigators claimed that Jussie had staged the alleged attack as a publicity stunt to help further his career, as he was not satisfied with his salary, and that he had sent himself a threatening letter prior to the brutal beating.

The 36-year-old has maintained his innocence, and in his article, Jojo hit out at officers over “numerous police leaks” which “convicted Jussie in the court of public opinion before he even entered a courtroom.”

“To suggest that he staged his own attack to boost a sagging career is ludicrous. Jussie has a team of extremely effective agents, managers, publicists, and attorneys who helped him acquire career advancement. He wouldn’t need to roll around on the icy ground of a Chicago street, staging an attack on himself to make this happen,” insisted Jojo.

Elsewhere, Jojo claimed that Jussie was not interested in self-promotion and stated that he had been financially stable as he had recently directed episodes of Empire, was working on a deal with Fox to gain ownership of his music masters, and is developing two films.

While all charges against Jussie were dropped in return for him performing community service and forfeiting his $10,000 bond, he is still facing a lawsuit from Chicago city attorneys for the sum of $130,105.15 for the cost of overtime authorities had spent investigating the matter.

In addition, FBI officials are conducting an investigation into why the charges against him were dismissed.

Eminem has celebrated 11 years of sobriety with a message of strength.

The rapper has long been open about his addiction to prescription drugs, including painkiller Vicodin, sleep aid Ambien, and anti-anxiety medication Valium, but began his journey to recovery in early 2008 and marked 10 years of being drug-free in April 2018.

Now, Eminem has taken to Instagram to commemorate another year of sobriety.

“11 years – still not afraid,” the 46-year-old wrote alongside an image of a blue and gold medallion printed with the Roman numeral XI.

Tokens or sobriety coins are often given to Alcoholics Anonymous or other 12-step group members to mark the amount of time they have remained sober.

Singer Demi Lovato, who has had her own addiction struggles and had to be hospitalized for two weeks in July 2018 following a suspected overdose, was one of the celebrities who liked Eminem’s post, while Orange Is the New Black actress Taryn Manning, who starred opposite Eminem in 8 Mile, added: “Rad dude! Teach me your ways. The most admiration. You did it! And can still write like a fkn beast! Proud!”

Previously, the Stan star opened up about how his substance abuse habit and near-fatal drug overdose in 2007 had impacted his music.

In an interview with Vulture in 2017, he explained that he almost forgot how to rap when he recorded 2009 album Relapse, and wasn’t all that pleased with his 2004 effort Encore.

“I certainly have not had a perfect career. I’ve put out bad albums. Encore was mediocre, and with Relapse – it was the best I could do at that point in time. (Relapse) was a funny album for me because I was just starting back rapping after coming out of addiction,” the Lose Yourself rapper recalled. “I was so scatterbrained that the people around me thought that I might have given myself brain damage. I was in this weird fog for months. Like, literally I wasn’t making sense; it had been so long since I’d done vocals without a tonne of Valium and Vicodin. I almost had to relearn how to rap.”

Ariana Grande has posted a quote about depression on social media just days after tweeting that she felt “empty.”

The 7 Rings singer has been very open about her struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder following the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing after her concert in the city, and her battles with anxiety in light of the shock death of her former boyfriend Mac Miller in September last year.

And on Saturday, Ariana took to Instagram to post a Jim Carrey quote about depression.

“Depression is your body saying, ‘I don’t want to be this character anymore. I don’t want to hold up this avatar that you’ve created in the world. It’s too much for me,” the quote reads. “You should think of the word ‘depressed’ as ‘deep rest.’ Your body needs to be depressed. It needs deep rest from the character that you’ve been trying to play.”

She added in her own words: “The whole LOML (love of my life) forever.”

In another post uploaded on her Instagram Stories, Ariana shared a close up image of The Mask actor and wrote, “I love you so much,” before confessing that her first AOL Instant Messenger username was “jimcarreyfan42” when she was in primary school.

The serious posts come just days after Ariana, who will perform at the second weekend of the Coachella festival on Sunday, replied to a number of fans on Twitter about the problems she has with performing live.

In one of the now-deleted tweets, the 25-year-old commented, “I’m just not in a headspace to handle it like I used to u know,” and in another, the star wrote, “I just feel empty and i wanna have more to say / better energy to give to u and rn i don’t have anything. love u.”

Adele and her husband Simon Konecki have separated.

The Rolling in the Deep singer’s representatives Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh confirmed the news in an email statement to news agencies on Friday night.

“Adele and her partner have separated,” the statement said. “They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”

The British singer, who has always been private about her relationship with Simon, gave birth to their first and only child, a son named Angelo, in 2012.

They tied the knot in secret in 2016 after five years of dating, with Adele appearing to confirm they were married when she gave a shout out to the charity entrepreneur as she won Album of the Year for 25 at the 2017 Grammys.

“Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son you’re the only reason I do it,” she said.

She later explicitly told fans “I’m married now” during a concert in Australia in March 2017, during her world tour.

The 30-year-old and the Life Water co-founder moved to Los Angeles in 2016, but reports have suggested they were planning to move back to their native England.

Adele likes to keep a low profile, but was seen on a date night with Simon at an Elton John gig in January and enjoying a night out at a New York City gay bar with Jennifer Lawrence in March, the same month she was spotted entering a recording studio in the Big Apple, sparking rumors she’s working on new music after taking a break from the spotlight following the conclusion of her world tour in June 2017.

Kelly Clarkson has laughed off tabloid rumours suggesting she’s feuding with fellow singer Carrie Underwood by taking issue with the cover photo used for the fake report.

The Since U Been Gone hitmaker features on the front of Star magazine amid claims the two artists are at war.

“Secret Feud Explodes!” reads the headline, underneath a split shot of the ladies, with Carrie looking glamorous and her supposed rival pictured with an emotionless face.

Kelly shared a picture of the tabloid on Twitter on Friday, and made light of the article by taking issue with the image editors chose to depict the story.

“Someone just sent me this & I’m like why does she get the good pic & I have the worst expression I’ve ever made w/ (with) zero muscles being used in my face ha!” Kelly captioned the post.

“I officially have a feud w/whoever used this pic!” she added. “At least give me a good pic if y’all are gonna be lying is all I’m sayin’.”

Carrie was quick to weigh in on the funny tweet, poking fun at another claim plastered across the Star cover, stating, “Country legend Reba forced to step in.”

Uploading a gif of Reba McEntire cheering with a double thumbs up, she replied, “At least @reba is here to save the day!!!”

Kelly continued to have a little fun with the unfounded feud gossip with fans, as one joked that there are actually no bad pictures of Carrie to be found.

“Hahaha touche,” Kelly responded. “well, I have PLENTY of rough ones ha! But I guess it builds character and keeps me humble this is what I tell myself.”

Both stars found fame after competing on American Idol – Kelly won the first season of the reality show in 2002, while Carrie shot to stardom as the champion of season four in 2005.
