Governments put $4.5m into Australian Space Agency plans for WA base to control robots in space

Robots in space could soon be controlled from a high-tech facility in WA after a joint $8 million commitment from the McGowan and Morrison governments.

There are hopes WA’s expertise in automation and the remote operation of robots in the resources industry will translate to the final frontier through the initiative with the Australian Space Agency.

ASA head Megan Clark said planning would now begin to come up with the scope for the facility and where it would be located.
