Australian NBA star Ben Simmons has shown support for ‘Egg Boy’, paying tribute to the 17-year-old on his shoes before the Philadelphia 76ers played the Charlotte Hornets.
Will Connolly aka ‘Egg Boy’ has dominated news headlines around the world for egging Australian Senator Fraser Anning, following comments the politician made regarding the Christchurch terror attacks.
Simmons wrote ‘EGG BOY’ on the side of his shoes and also commented on Connolly’s most recent Instagram post, posting “Australian legend,” in the comments section.
Connolly’s stunt came after the ultra-conservative Queensland senator said Muslim immigration contributed to the 50 deaths in the Christchurch massacres.
Simmons scored 28 points while JJ Redick had 27 points and 10 rebounds as the 76ers held on to beat the Charlotte Hornets 118-114 for their fifth successive NBA victory.
Jimmy Butler added 23 points and nine assists, and Tobias Harris chipped in with 22 points and 12 rebounds for the 76ers (46-25), who remained in third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Redick finished with seven three-pointers, one shy of his career high.
